EXHIBITION: Paris Fall 2009
Water sources and the mystical spaces around them have been a fascination to David D. Livingston since he was a child. His fond memories exploring the natural grottoes surrounding his home in California along with the proximity to the Pacific Ocean and bay around his native San Francisco permeate Livingston’s subconscious.
In his family history are tales of shipping, immigration and traversing the seas. These stories eventually led him to work on the high seas where he began to perceive the subtleties of the earth curvature seeing the horizon is not a line but a soft arch never to be reached.
These photos from a body of work Water Stories encompass the emotions, memories, and sense of place that Livingston experiences. The photos below are part of a photography show in Paris for the fall of 2009 at the gallery of Katia Apelbaum (Marché Serpette in Saint-Ouen).
