Inspiration

Inspiration. Over hundred years modern artists have been crafting their expressions in an ever-liberating process from past working styles. Here in the landscape fine art photography by David D. Livingston the connection to this continuum of change can be seen. Livingston’s work draws inspiration from the riches of modern art history. Some of the Livingston’s influences: The English painter Turner creation of richly textured skies and oceans inviting hours of contemplation. The looseness of Jackson Pollack’s paintings allowing the viewer to see how the eye of the artist and the randomness of the act create paintings of depth and presence. Mark Rothko’s explorations in color field painting with a simplified palette while providing nuances along the textural edges. Cy Twombly work blurring the line between drawing and painting. The contemporary German painter Gerhard Richter use of photography that blurs the subject matter and then paints from the photo, in Livingston’s work the photo is the art.
